Xiaocao was taking a bath at home when Erzhu caught her in the act. Enraged, Xiaocao punched Erzhu and threw him out. Aunt Laba happened to be passing by and witnessed this, and rumors spread throughout the village that Xiaocao and Erzhu were having an affair. Erzhu then married Xiaocao. After the marriage, Erzhu's family treated Xiaocao very badly, especially Erzhu's sister, Fengxia, who was even worse, constantly causing trouble. Xiaocao suffered all sorts of bullying, but Junsheng, Erzhu's brother, always loved her.
